I’ve received many encouraging phone calls about what we’re doing. I thought it would be great if this feedback could be shared with everyone.

Thanks for giving us something better for our younger children than just playing in a team… The more traditional teams seem geared towards just the players who are already good and not kids who want to learn.
Congratulations on what seems like a strong move in the right direction. My son has had an indifferent preparation for football from a somewhat confused club (won’t mention it here).
He has never had any specific skill training or even an opportunity to enjoy his football in anything other than competitive games since he was three years old. He has had little in the way of serious coaching. This opportunity to train and play in the one session and more than once a week is very welcome. Thanks for the new option.
Thanks Julie… appreciate the email as well. Many people have expressed similar views since the website been live.
From the beginning, our aim has been to offer an alternative that might suit some people. In addition our sport is growing so rapidly there are many young players who may miss out due to local clubs reaching their maximum numbers.
Guys, applaud the new club and the thought behind it, but what is it really about and why is it different?
I have a couple of young daughters who want to start playing in South Canberra soon – why shouldn’t i head for the more established southside clubs?
Hi,
Just a quick email to say, great idea and ask a few questions:
- Are you able to provide a little more detail about the session days and times, eg what time Saturday and what days and times during the week?
- Will there be an ‘in person’ registration as well as the online registration? Basically I’d like to meet the people.
- Is there a uniform?
As a I said at the beginning – great idea and I’m looking forward to the season starting.
Thanks
Megan
Hi,
Many of your questions you posed will be answered in the FAQ’s page I will post this afternoon. This is a compilation of questions we’ve received in the last two weeks. It will cover the dates, times etc.. questions.
Giovanni - Whether Player’s FC is the club for your young girls will depend on what you want from a football program. Our program is deliberately designed to be developmental in nature not just a team’s based approach.
Player’s FC is a serious option for parents who want more for their kids than just a game on Saturday morning. By offering athletic development, skills and a game in each session we are confident that each child will make better progress than the traditional game oriented approach.
An added benefit of this approach is the time saving for the parents who don’t necessarily have the time or resources to get their child to an additional training session during the week.
Megan – Good idea about meeting the people before the season. Our original intention was to make registration as easy as possible for parents through online registration and through the post etc… However, i think meeting with parents before hand has great merit.
I promise to look at a suitable time to do this and report back.
We now have registration times for those who wish to meet with us and register.
Times are listed in the registration section.
Questions as follows:
My son is turning 9 in May, does he still qualify in that age group?
Is there a requirement to purchase a uniform and how much is it?
I have a daughter that will be playing netball in Deakin on a Saturday morning. Is it possible to leave the ground and drop her off/pick her up or do parents have to stay at the game the whole time?
Do you know what time it will be held on a Saturday morning? (I was unable to find this information on your website)
Thanks
Catherine
Thanks Catherine.
I apologise for the blip with the email. (I’m not sure what happened, I’m still following up)
Your son still qualifies for the U9’s so he is most welcome.
A playing shirt is provided and we’ll be providing an inexpensive option for shorts and socks.
Yes, you can drop you son off on Saturday mornings and we expect to start from 9:30am on Saturday mornings.
I’ll post this information onto the site today.
Just a big thanks to you all @ Players FC – My son Jack has always been non-committal to various activities we have exposed him to in the past.
He really responds well to the “gaining skills” aspect of Players FC, combined with the opportunity to play games towards the end of the sessions. He can feel that he is getting better and more skilled and therefore has increasingly become confident and gained a huge amount of satisfaction from Soccer.
I will definately be involving him in the weekly training sessions either later this year or from Term I next year in addition to the Saturday morning session. He has also asked me to enrol him in the School Holiday Program for Sept/Oct.
We are currently locked into a couple of other activities this year such as TaeKwondo and swimming, but Soccer is by far the favourite from Jack’s perspective! Well Done Players FC you are FANTASTIC and we are thrilled that we found you. You have inspired Jack and given him a confidence that is boosting him in other aspects of his life.
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
