Information about Bad Weather and Cancelled Sessions

There are several causes for cancelled sessions.

• Ground closure due to heavy rainfall the previous day or night and ‘Sportsground’  have closed the ground. (won’t normally affect synthetic grounds)
• The weather conditions are unsuitable for play. (constant rain or storm conditions).

In the event that a session is cancelled, a notice will be placed on the website approx. one hour before the session is due to start. This can be a clear cut decision when it’s raining very hard all over Canberra, however sometimes it’s not that easy when showers and conditions are intermittent.

There have been times when a notification to cancel a session has been made one hour prior to the session (based on the best information at the time), only to have the weather clear and the sun come out at the actually session time. Therefore, we ask parents to forgive our errors as we generally can’t predict future conditions.

The club will make it’s best guess one hour before and place the cancelled notice if it thinks it appropriate. We always try to go ahead with the program where possible.

Normally our program has an extra date booked at the end to make up for any missed session.
