“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” said Alice
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

Our goal… is to give young players the skills and abilities to achieve great satisfaction from their sport.
We hope this will motivate them to continue in the sport well into their teenage years.
We want our players to really enjoy their sport, to fall in love with it and have more opportunities to reach their potential…. If they can enjoy their sport in their formative years there’s a chance that they can become a positive influence in the sport as they grow.
It’s an ambitious project… but we think we’re on the right track…
Professional
- We’re here for the long run.
- We’re a football organisation with a full time approach to development. We eat, sleep and breath football, applying ourselves to the development task without the distraction of another job.
- More importantly, we take our job seriously and look to build lasting relationships with our young players and their parents.
Experience
- After 12 years of extensive task analysis on what young players need to succeed, our program is a result of 1000′s of hours of field testing. We believe this information is unique and not available in the traditional football programs. This gives all our players an edge on their development path.
- At Kids FC, we’ve taken the best aspects of many sports and learnt how to best deliver a program to a group whilst still catering for the individual.
- Our program endeavours to accommodate many of a players individual qualities. Some of these are:
- Player’s age and gender,
- Their time commitment,
- Where in the maturation cycle they are,
- The primary learning style of the player, and
- Their emotional maturity.
Specialists
- We have focused our efforts on young players between 3 and 9 years of age. We aim to become the development specialists for this age group.
- Specialising means we continue to build a knowledge base specific to these age groups. Past onto our coaches from year to year, this has many benefits for our players.
System
- There is a system! As far as we know Kids FC is the only football club to have in place a progressive, competency based program.
- The system ensures every player has access to the same development program.
- From year to year every child progresses through the system without missing any of the vital elements.
- Our training and development philosophy ensures all coaches receive the correct information and training to help your child. Licenses and certificates are fine, but in reality a coach with knowledge of your child’s needs coupled with the backing of a proven development system is far more effective.
Quality Control
- Quality control starts with our curriculum, how our coaches teach and if the player is actually learning.
- This and other information is the feedback used to adjust the program so learning outcomes are achieved more rapidly.
- Activity leaders and squad coaches are monitored as they deliver their sessions. Young coaches are assisted and mentored so they constantly improve.
- Through our quality control program we make continual improvement to our information, program design and delivery. The more we do this, the more our players and staff benefit. That’s why we’re here.
Customer Focus
- Our focus is to give each child a great experience every time they attend one of our sessions. Engagement, enjoyment and progressive development are at the heart of our programs.
Realistic
- We know that we’re not the choice for everyone. However, aiming to be the best has it’s own rewards and long term we believe our program will be recognised as the best of it’s kind.
Author’s Note:
This page was originally written when the club was first established in 2008. I believe we have already reached our goal. . I believe we have the best development system for very young players and have the results to prove it.
Feel free to leave a comment on what you think and your football development experiences.
Hi Anthony
After the first two weeks of the season, I wish to congratulate yourself, Kirsti, Kath and all the team at Hawker for presenting such well organised and enjoyable mornings as we’ve enjoyed the past two weeks. Even the weather has been fantastic!
The new touches this season, such as coaches’ uniforms which look great, name tags for players and coaches, and even the piped nursery rhymes/music in the grandstand which is good for those of us with smaller kids/babies, all add to the increasing professionalism which the club is projecting.
So once again, congratulations and thanks to all. Keep up the good work.
